Since you have written about my rowing achievements, I told Henry Kao (aka) Htaik San to e-mail to you his achievements as well. I am forwarding his e-mail and hope that you can put it under the sports item. You and your organizers have done a marvellous job which will serve as a mile stone in the lives of all the Engineers and Architects of Myanmar. I am looking forward to seeing my colleagues and friends at the dinner. ith Boundless Metta Tin Htoon

Regarding RIT Alumni Faculty list, I think my father [Dr. Maung Maung Kha, retired Rector, Rangoon Unviersity] should be one of them as he has served as the [Interim] Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Rangoon University (though he is not an engineer). I am not sure the exact years he served and his title as well (may be around 1950s - 1960s before he became Rector). What I remember in Burmese is "Yangon Tet-ka-tho Engineer Maha Htar-na Hmuu". It must be before RIT. If you can check in Old RIT Golden Anniversary magazines (around 1974 - 1975), you will see his picture in there (If my memory is good enough). Do you know anything about it? I was trying to ask Uncle U Myo Myint Sein (Architect) (as he always mentioned my father as his Saya), but I got returned mail user unknown. I'll ask my father when I call Burma. If I found out from him the exact date and title, I'll write to Webmaster (I think it's you...). You know, I just want everybody know how my father did good things for Education Dept. Regards, Myat Munn

Editor's note: From the discussions with my sayas, I believe there were two Interim Dean of the Faculty of Engineering: Dr. Tha Hla (Geology) and Dr. Maung Maung Kha (Physics). Both later served as the Rector of Rangoon University. Saya U Myo Myint Sein (Arch) adds:
Saya Kha may not be an Engineer or an Architect, however, Saya Kha is the 'Backbone' of the Engineering Faculty that eventually became the Rangoon Institute of Technology. We are grateful for his support and as usual and always the interim Dean/Rector whenever there is a need, starting from my student days. Thank you [Myat Munn] for reminding us. My apologies for all the organizers and Ko Hla Min as I have not been as active as I would like, However I will try and be in touch. Thank You All.

One of the early birds to the RIT Reunion and Saya Pu Zaw Pwe is Saya U Htin Paw (Elec 58). He was the co-founder and first President of BEA, ancestor of BAPS. For an autobiographical account, see the series of articles by Saya U Htin Paw on our web site.
There will be another [younger] U Htin Paw attending the Reunion and Saya Pu Zaw Pwe.
How do we distinguish people having the same name? In the case of the U Htin Paws, one is a saya, one is not. One is from Northern California, one is from Southern California.
There were several Khin Maung Wins. One [nicknamed "Sargalay"] is a genius. Another [aka Roland Thein] is known for his public speaking and scrabble skills.
There were several Aung Myints. "Pathein" Aung Myint joined the Mechanical Department, RIT and later Singapore Polytechic. He earlier donated S$50 for the ex-rit web site. He donated US$67 [probably S$100] for the Saya Pu Zaw Pwe. "Cartoon" Aung Myint [aka Delta Tun Shein, since he resembled Saya U Tun Shein, Maths] made name and fortune drawing "Kyant Ba Hone" [an adaption of Nick Kelly"] and other cartoon characters. He also served as a faculty member.
Among the younger Aung Myints, one is known for his "Thway Say" and another is known as a movie actor "Thamankyar Ko Myint".
I'm beginning to get familiar with some of the names of the attendees. I had the pleasure to talk with some on the phone, and communicate with several by e-mail, but I still have a Herculean task of doing justice to all attendees.
Some say, "I do not know the Sayagyis. Will my Sayas come? Will my friends come?" I hope and pray that all the Sayas, Sayamas, and alumni can join the first ever RIT Reunion and Saya Pu Zaw Pwe, but beyond that I have no control on their decisions.
A good saya/sayama [irrespective of age] is like a candle/flame from which many other candles can be lit. There is no cost or loss of light to the original candle/flame. If enough candles/flames get lit, they collectively can make our world bright. =============================================================== That's all for now. With metta, Hla Min
