Dear Sayas and Colleagues,
Here's some more feedback. =============================================================== Ko Thet Win (Arch) wrote:
I have not picked up the drum sticks for a long time. It would take some effort to come up to speed again. Ko Than Tun Oo (a) Gavin (Arch, AIA), RUBC Gold, now works at North Western Uni. I spoke to Ko Gavin Tun last week. He has plans to go to Europe. He is looking at firming up his plans and will try to come if possible. I've CC'd this to Ko Gavin as well. It would be great if Ko Gavin can be there too.

I recently checked the EX-RIT site and found my entry under Maung Thit ex-Head of Metallurgy, RIT, {address} - Sydney, Australia. As I have never lived in Sydney, would you be so kind as to change my address to the following - Melbourne, Australia, where I have been living for about the last 30 years. Thank you. With best wishes, Maung Thit - mthit@bigpond.com

Editor's note: Saya U Thit taught "Materials and Processes" in our 2nd B.E. course. Grapevine said that Saya had gone to Australia where he had did his graduate studies. Since a lot of the alumni were in Sydney [site of the 2000 Olympics], we had mistaken put Saya's address as Sydney, Australia where in reality he was/is staying in Melbourne [site of the 1956 Olympics]. KMZ, our webmaster, had corrected the mistake. We have tried our best to keep the alumni database correct and up to date. We need help fom our readers to point out the discrepancies.

I am behind the updates, putting in another 12-hour-day week this week at work. Hope to get out early today, recuperate and start working on the updates. For the seating plan, put me and Wynn Myint Aung in Philip's table.
Editor's note: Thanks KMZ for posting the updates. Maurice is arranging the seating plan. Sample seating plan requests are also posted in the Reunion Pages.
I do not have a problem routing messages to every one. I also do understand the issue of too many messages a person has to sift through every day, being one myself. We, especially myself, live and die with email for the past decade, but having to read several hundreds of messages a day has become a nightmare at times.
Editor's note: If you send e-mail to KMZ and me, please take time to put the proper subject heading and/or priority.

=============================================================== PhaungDawOo Festival by Hla Min ===============================================================
We are now approaching the Full Moon of Thadinkyut. The following is a poem I wrote for the Thadinkyut supplement about a memorable festival in Inlay Lake, Southern Shan States, Myanmar.
PhaungDawOo, oh Burma's grandeur Its mystic charm and rhymeless splendor Have firmly stood the test of time It lies deep in the heart of people It gives them courage and inspiration No wonder this festival has no equal It promises joy and veneration On board the Karaweik so scintillating Stood the four images of Lord Buddha But one statue was left behind Because in writings we do find That should it ever leave the shrine There will be thunder and storm Thus a happy reunion on the morn of the full moon of Thadinkyut From floating islands the leg rowers came To take part in the race With their muscular frame, with might and main Their oars flashing at a rapid pace Festivities last all night long Dances to the company of ozi and gong Oh, prayers that fill the cool evening air May loving kindness prevail everywhere
=============================================================== That's all for now. With metta, Hla Min
