Dear Sayas and Colleagues,
It's not an easy task for alumni from out of state and overseas to plan and participate in the RIT Reunion and Saya Pu Zaw Pwe. There's the cost of travel and accomodation. The Sydney 2000 Olympics, Halloween, etc. also add to the logistics. ====================================================== Stanley Saw [Mech 71] wrote:
I am thrilled with the growing list of confirmed attendees. I am glad that I decided to participate in this event, otherwise I would regret it forever.

Earlier, Stanley wrote to KMZ that he will be NOT be able to come to the RIT Reunion and Saya Pu Zaw Pwe since he will be going to Myanmar to meet his friends and sayas at the Old Paulian's gathering. Several other Mech 71 and/or SPHS 65 batch from New Zealand, Australia and Singapore plan to meet in Myanmar.
Later, perhaps after nights of deep thinking, Stanley decided to come to the RIT Reunion and Saya Pu Zaw Pwe and also bring along his daughter.
Thanks, Stanley for making the right decision. ======================================================
From UK, Dr. L. Sein Myint (Mech 73) earlier wrote that [unless something unexpected happens] he'll try to make it to the Reunion and Saya Pu Zaw Pwe.
He is now in the US, but he will NOT be able to make it to the grand event. He wrote:
I'm afraid that I could not attend the Reunion next month as there are many thing to be settled here with my university, GWU, in DC. Have to wait for another opportunity.
We sincerely hope that there will be many more Grand Reunions. If all goes well, the next Reunion will probably be held in Singapore, where there are many alumni. The place is also close to Myanmar [about 3 hours rather than 18+ hours of travel]. But when?
Sayagi U Num Kock is 80+ years young and healthy. Saya U Myo Win is almost 60 years young and plans to live 25+ more years teaching and planting. However, Ko Myint Khine (a) Norman Khine(Civil 63) wrote that his health permits at most one Inter-continental flight a year. Several Sayas said that they would not be able to come due to failing health.
It is sad to note that several Sayas (U Sein Hlaing, U Kyaw Tun, ...) could not even make it to the First Grand Reunion and Saya Pu Zaw Pwe.
As Saya Allen Htay said it is likely to have an event of this magnitude and impact [with hundreds of man-hours put in by the volunteers] in the forseeable future. Our hearts want to have Reunions every now and then. Our heads know the time and space complexity of holding such events. ========= However =========
No matter what people say there'll be bumblebees who will try to plan grander schemes and [hopefully] succeed.
Some one told me when I was young:
"According to the laws of aerodynamics, a bumblebee [with its huge body and short wings] should not fly. But a bumblee does not know aerodynamics. Therefore, it flies."
